Freelance Rates
Line Editing – $0.01 CAD per word
addresses overall language use, style, and internal consistency for plot and characterization; I will make suggestions for developmental concerns, but my focus is on line editing; happy to work with author if there is one or more areas they are concerned about; multiple passes included
Proofreading – $40/hr CND
after editing and/or copy editing; a final look at spelling, grammar, style, and language, eyes open for any inconsistencies in plot and characterization missed at previous stages; I also will make suggestions for clarity; multiple passes included
- I WILL NOT WORK ON BOOKS MADE WITH AI
- I do not use AI in my proofreading or editing; I use no programs that may have AI tools to assist with my work
- I accept Word docs, Google docs, and PDFs
- I only work on fiction manuscripts; no non-fiction
- I will not do academic, technical, or business editing or proofreading
- I work on novels, novellas, and short stories
- invoices provided
- payment through PayPal, or Interac e-transfer for fellow Canadians
- payment due in 30 days from receipt of invoice unless another agreement is reached
- split payments and sliding scale payment available but please email to discuss first
